Saskatchewan, it’s time to have another talk about education.
Back in May 2022, I laid out in this space how chronic underfunding of education in Saskatchewan is failing students and puts at risk our collective future as a province.
Any strong economy we envision for Saskatchewan must be underpinned by a robust education system because if schools aren’t graduating capable young people, we all lose.

What I said in 2022 about underfunding wasn’t new; school board trustees like me have, for about a decade, called for operating dollars that at minimum allow us school divisions to keep up with inflation. Unfortunately, that message fell, and continues to fall, on deaf ears in Regina.
At Saskatoon Public Schools, we have been open about our financial challenges in the hope we could broaden the conversation about this critical issue because if government isn’t interested in hearing from those of us overseeing education,........
