Mindfulness is deliberately noticing one’s impulses, thoughts, behaviors, and reactions.

Practicing mindfulness reduces burnout, improves relationships, and eases anxiety and stress.

Mindfulness turns frustrating resistance into useful information, focus, making everyday tasks more engaging.

Mindful mindedness extends self-observation with empathy and perspective-taking: thought and emotion aligned.

Mindfulness pulls attention away from distraction and competition. It settles a person and eases tension, especially at work. Stepping back changes how we relate to others. Learning mindfulness depends on staying open to feedback. This waking up doesn’t happen once — it repeats as new situations arise. It also depends on genuine closeness with other people, something easy to lose sight of. I offer this as a starting definition: deliberate awareness of our own impulses and behaviors.

Learned Mindfulness is a set of practical guidelines. None of this is new — it draws on traditions that go back centuries (Thich, 1975). It is also a tool I use every day. In therapy, it lowers anxiety and helps people communicate better. Mindful dialogue depends on taking........
