Two-year delay before work could start on dozens of flats near city centre
Orbit Homes, which has permission to build 437 flats on King Street, say it is in the process of appointing a project team to lead the tender process before building the remaining 190 homes.
While only 247 of the properties have been built, it means a section of the site adjoining King Street has been left barren and boarded up for more than 10 years.
The project is set to cost Orbit Homes £85m and would also include 22,000sqft of commercial unit space, much of which remains empty.
A spokesman for the developer said: "We're currently in the process of appointing a project team to lead the tendering of the design and build contract and for the tender process of phases four, five and six of the development.
"We anticipate this will take up to 24 months and we will be keeping customers and local stakeholders updated on progress."
