New Delhi: With approval from 24 of the 27 members attending its virtual special general meeting on Monday, the All India Football Federation adopted the only remaining clause left to be accepted of its new constitution.

In a statement, AIFF expressed its “sincere appreciation and gratitude” to all stakeholders and contributors for the process that began in 2017 but its biggest stakeholder, the players, remained unrepresented in the meeting, even after stipulation for creation of a 15-member body for their representation.

On September 19, through finalisation of its constitution, Supreme Court mandated formation of National Players Association to “represent the rights and interests of players and make related recommendations”.

AIFF has sat on it ever since and even after adoption of majority of the constitution........
