Delhi explores AI-driven pollution control with IIT Kanpur, says Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa
New Delhi: The Delhi government is exploring a collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based, data-driven system to tackle air pollution, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said on Thursday. The move is part of a broader, year-round strategy aimed at addressing pollution through scientific methods, advanced technology and strong administrative coordination.
The government said it is working on a comprehensive framework that relies on real-time data, precise identification of pollution sources and measurable outcomes. As part of this effort, the Environment Department is deliberating on a proposed partnership with IIT Kanpur to implement AI-based air quality intelligence and data-backed pollution control solutions, including a clear institutional structure and phased execution plan.
