Ubisoft, in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, announced the launch date for the Star Wars Outlaws. The new open-world Star Wars game will arrive on August 30, 2024, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Amazon Luna, and PC through Ubisoft Connect. The launch date was announced together with a trailer drop, screenshots, and key art of the game.
The pre-orders of the Star Wars Outlaws are now live. Ubisoft subscribers or Star Wars fans who buy the Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition of the game can enjoy up to three days of early access to Outlaws. Gamers who pre-order the upcoming title before August 30 will also receive other benefits, such as the “Kessel Runner Bonus Pack”.
Star Wars Outlaws is priced at Rs 5,599 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in India. The Gold Edition costs Rs 8,399 to pre-order, whereas the Ultimate Edition is priced at Rs 9,699. Its standard, gold, and ultimate editions cost €69.99, €109.99, and €129.99 respectively on the Ubisoft Store for PC.
The Standard Edition carries only the base game, whereas the Gold Edition comes with up to three days of early access and a Season Pass, which includes two DLCs, the “Jabba’s Gambit” exclusive mission, and the “Kessel Runner Character Pack” cosmetic pack alongside the base game. The Ultimate Edition adds Sabacc Shark Bundle (includes cosmetics for Kay, her blaster, Nix, Kay’s Speeder “Trailblazer” spaceship), Rogue Infiltrator Bundle (includes cosmetics for Kay, Nix, Kay’s speeder and the Trailblazer), and a Digital art book– a selection of the game’s concept art and visuals, including unique cinematic storyboards on top of Gold package.
With the announcement of the August 30 launch date, Ubisoft revealed more details about the Star Wars Outlaws. In the game, the Empire’s rule is distracted by the rebellion that refuses to quit, leading to a golden age for the underworld. The game follows Kay Vess and her companion Nix’s search for the opportunity of a lifetime. As a skilled thief, Kay’s antics catch the attention of Sliro, the leader of a new, foreboding criminal syndicate Zerek Besh.
After Sliro places a bounty on Kay’s head, the duo is offered their one shot at freedom to pull off one of the greatest heists of all time. Kay and Nix will need to navigate the underworld across the galaxy, building their reputation with legendary criminal organisations including the Pyke Syndicate, the Hutt Cartel, the Ashiga Clan, and Crimson Dawn to earn the support they need to finish the job.
Julian Gerighty, Creative Director, shared that in their quest for true freedom, Kay and Nix would embark on a journey through the underworld and across the Outer Rim. They would undertake jobs from syndicates, confront formidable adversaries, evade oppressive Imperial governance, and assemble a proficient outlaw crew to execute one of the most remarkable heists witnessed by the galaxy.
Douglas Reilly, vice president of Lucasfilm Games, expressed that Star Wars Outlaws invites fans to immerse themselves in a yet unexplored side of the galaxy, delving into the adventures of scoundrels thriving in the golden age of the underworld. He noted being inspired by Massive Entertainment’s commitment to portraying this facet of the Star Wars universe, incorporating both familiar and novel elements for fans to discover within an open-world setting.
Kay and Nix embark on a galaxy-wide journey to assemble resources and a crew for a significant heist. Their travels take them through various locations such as Canto Bight, Kijimi, Tatooine, Akiva, and Toshara’s windswept savannah. Along the way, Kay explores cities, cantinas, and outdoor landscapes on her speeder, while piloting her ship, the Trailblazer, through space. The Trailblazer proves useful in navigating unexpected situations, including engaging in dogfights with the Empire and other adversaries.
