Elon Musk has announced a new way for X (formerly Twitter) users to receive X Premium and X Premium subscriptions for free. These paid memberships come with a verified checkmark and give access to extra features, such as editing posts, longer posts and longer video uploads, text formatting, bookmark folders, and more. The Premium , on the other hand, offers additional benefits like access to Articles and Grok AI.
To receive the X Premium for free, users have “over 2,500 verified subscriber followers”. The X Premium will be awarded to those who have over 5,000 verified subscribers, Musk explained. This means you need to have at least 2,500 followers who have already paid for the premium service for the verified checkmark.
Musk didn’t reveal the reason for offering the Premium and Premium subscriptions for free. However, it follows the reports of fewer people using the platform and X struggling to retain users. Notably, the platform had refuted the claims.
X offers its premium services in three tiers– Basic, Premium, and Premium . Let’s take a look at their pricing and benefits.
Basic plan: It costs Rs 243.75 per month or 2,590.48 per year. It gives access to editing posts, longer posts, undo posts, top articles, the ability to post longer videos, Reader, background video playback, the ability to download videos, and a small reply boost. It also gives you access to encrypted DMs and all of the customisation options.
Premium plan: It costs Rs 650 per month or Rs 6,800 per year. It offers all the Basic benefits in addition to a larger reply boost, fewer ads, and a verified checkmark. This plan also unlocks Creator Hub, where you get X Pro, creator subscriptions, payment for posts upon meeting certain requirements, Media Studio, and Analytics.
Premium plan: It costs Rs 1,300 per month or Rs 13,600 per year. It offers all the Premium benefits alongside access to Articles and early access to the Grok AI chatbot. This plan removes all the ads from the platform.
