Over the past few months, there have been several leaks and reports of Apple planning to refresh its iPad Pro and iPad Air models. The new devices, with larger displays and new chipsets, were rumoured to arrive in March-April 2024. However, a new report now suggests that the next-generation iPad Pro and iPad Air models have been pushed further.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that Apple will probably launch the new iPad models in early May, just a month ahead of its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is scheduled to start on June 10. He explains that the delay is due to “software work for the devices” and the “complex new manufacturing techniques” of the new screens the iPads are tipped to receive.

Gurman further says that Apple suppliers are currently boosting the production of the upcoming iPad Pro and iPad Air models.

Apple is expected to launch four new iPad Pro variants, codenamed J717, J718, J720, and J721. These devices are said to draw power from Apple’s new M3 chipset. The upcoming iPad Pro models are said to come with OLED screens in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. The former is tipped to have 7.12 mm-thin bezels, while the latter could feature 7.08 mm-thin bezels.

These iPad Pro models are said to be available in glossy and matte screen versions. Additionally, the new Pro models could support redesigned versions of the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, which have yet to launch. The new Magic Keyboard is tipped to sport a larger trackpad with a partially aluminium enclosure.

The updated iPad Air models, on the other hand, are reported to come in 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch sizes. These new versions are tipped to be powered by Apple’s M2 chipset and could feature landscape-oriented front cameras.

Apple is also expected to launch new colour options for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models soon. Additionally, the tech giant is also tipped to launch a new HomePod in the first half of 2024.
