Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau seems to be paying a heavy price for messing with India. According to several media reports, Trudeau may resign soon. According to a report, he has to make this announcement before the meeting of Canadian ministers on Wednesday. Some reports also suggest that he might resign as the leader of the Liberal Party.

According to several surveys conducted on Trudeau and his government, some shocking facts have come to light which say that his government is in trouble as more than two-thirds of Canadians want Justin Trudeau to resign. There is also a rebellion within the Liberal Party. After the resignation of his former Finance Minister and Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland, one-third of the party’s MPs have also demanded Trudeau’s resignation.

While Trudeau’s popularity has fallen drastically, apart from about half a dozen ministers of his cabinet, more than a dozen MPs have left him and have said that they will not contest the upcoming elections, due to which the pressure on him to resign is continuously increasing.

This crisis is unfolding before Canada is set to hold parliamentary elections in October 2025. It is being said that Trudeau’s popularity is continuously declining and the Liberal Party may face a huge defeat in the elections. There is extreme discontent within the Liberal Party as many of the MPs and party members believe that victory in the upcoming elections is difficult under Trudeau’s leadership. This is the reason the party’s Quebec caucus has demanded Trudeau to resign.

To add to Trudeau’s trouble, newly appointed US President Donald Trump has also said that he is thinking of imposing a 25 per cent tariff on goods coming from Canada. Since people are entering the US illegally from Canada, this cannot be tolerated. It may be noted that Canada and US share the longest border in the world which is about 8,000 kilometres long but is completely uncontrolled. Canadian citizens can enter the US on their driving license and the border is open. This is also a big reason which has become a headache for Justin Trudeau.
