A Leader Whose Cause Crossed Sect Lines

Imam Khamenei’s martyrdom has renewed focus on healing the divide between Shia and Sunni Muslims.

Both communities stand on the same five pillars, professing one God and Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] through the shahada.

They pray five times daily, give zakat, fast during Ramzan, and make pilgrimage to Mecca.

Sure, they differ in doctrine and practice, but their foundation runs far deeper than their distinctions.

This matters enormously when we look at Palestine.

Almost all Palestinians are Sunni Muslims, but Iran stood alone in openly backing their cause, even when the world turned up the pressure.

The United States and Israel targeted Iran precisely because of that stance.

Imam Khamenei gave his life standing by Palestine, and that choice has resonated across communities.

Sunni Muslims worldwide are paying attention now. All fifty-three Islamic nations are watching closely, sensing this moment could revive Muslim unity.

Let’s put this in perspective. Every religion has its internal differences. Christianity has its Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant traditions. Buddhism flows through Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana. Hinduism embraces Shaivism, Shaktism and Vaishnavism. Only Muslim divide just happens to dominate modern headlines.

But look outside right now. Millions of Sunni Muslims are marching in grief, mourning Khamenei’s death at the hands of the United States and Israel.

These gatherings are doing something historic. They’re bridging a divide that has separated Muslims for generations.

We keep moving forward by following the path of salaf-e-saliheen and our revered Imams. Imam Hussain’s sacrifice lights the way for us. He stood against tyranny and corruption, defending truth, justice and honour with his life.

Today’s leaders carry that same commitment, fighting for Palestinian children in Gaza. Many Muslim nations are opening their lands to support Iran fully. The old Shia-Sunni storyline is fading.

Imam Khamenei kept Islam’s true philosophy alive, nearly fourteen centuries after Karbala.

Think about that battle for a moment. Karbala happened in 680 AD, just forty-eight years after the Prophet’s passing. Two paths emerged there: Hussainiyat representing truth, and Yazidiyat representing falsehood.

We still see Yazidiyat today, pressing against Hussainiyat in new forms. But followers of Islam and Hussain are uniting under one banner.

The United States, Israel and their allies embody modern Yazidiyat through oppression and global terrorism.

Imam Khamenei’s sacrifice reminds us of something profound: every day is Ashura, and every land is Karbala.

This message belongs to all of us, regardless of community or background.

We treasure what the Prophet, his companions and Imam Hussain taught us. Imam Khamenei walked that same road, unwavering until his death at eighty-six.

He did it all to defend Sunni Arab Palestine. That sacrifice stays with us forever.
