A presenter on LBC angered Reform UK’s Zia Yusuf by asking him if Nigel Farage “is a Russian asset”.

Shelagh Fogarty’s question came after the party’s former leader in Wales was convicted of taking bribes from the Kremlin.

Nathan Gill, who was also a senior member of Ukip and the Brexit Party alongside Farage, was jailed for 10-and-a-half years last week.

During her Budget speech on Wednesday, Rachel Reeves poked fun at Farage over the story, saying: “We are ramping up sanctions on Russia and we are freezing known Russian assets.

“But let me be clear, I don’t actually mean the Right Honourable Member for Clacton.”
