The Fifteenth Doctor regenerates in the most recent Doctor Who season finale

After months of speculation about the future of the Doctor Who franchise, the BBC has finally given fans an official update.

Rumours have been swirling about whether the long-running sci-fi series would be “rested” ever since February, when The Sun first reported that a decision about its future had not yet been made.

The tabloid also claimed that the BBC was considering “shelving the series for at least five years”, although a spokesperson for the broadcaster later insisted to HuffPost UK that “Doctor Who has not been shelved”.
