Sorry, What – Hello Kitty Is Not A Cat, Makers Sanrio Say

First came the revelation that Stuart Little is not actually a mouse.

Yup – the two-inch-tall character is actually a little boy, born to a human woman, who simply happens to look, well, like a rodent.

Writing to his even shorter, but human-looking, love interest, Harriet Ames, he said: “I am a young person of modest proportions” (italics mine). The EB White book on which the movie was based begins, “When Mrs Frederick C. Little’s second son arrived, everybody noticed that he was not much bigger than a mouse... the baby looked very much like a mouse in every way”.

I’d only just wrapped my head around this fact when I found out about another mind-melter: according to Hello Kitty’s manufacturer, Sanrio, the famous feline is actually yet another animal-shaped child.

Sorry, what?

Yup. Sanrio’s site reads, “Hello Kitty was born in the suburbs of London.........
