In case you haven’t heard, Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2026 has been announced, and it’s a doozy.
Their prediction for the colour that’s going to define the zeitgeist for the coming year is an intentionally minimalist shade called ‘Cloud Dancer’, which is described as a “billowy, balanced white” and a “key structural coloor” that lets other colours stand out.
This isn’t the first time Pantone has caught some flak for its choice for Colour of the Year, but as you might guess, this milky white colour choice has created a bit of a stir online.
Some have questioned whether white is even a proper colour, and accused Pantone of being, in short, boring.
But while white might not have been my first choice for a colour of the year I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be boring.
If you’re looking for a way to, as Laurie Pressman, the Vice President of Pantone Colour Institute, put it, bring “[a] feeling of airy lightness” into your home, here are some white homeware bits to shop that are anything but boring.
