Even as most workers are staying put in their roles, Big Tech is seeing executive-level shakeups in the midst of the AI race.
At Apple, Tesla and Meta, more than four executives or key employees departed in 2025. Apple, which has struggled to keep up on AI this year, has seen its largest leadership overhaul since cofounder Steve Jobs died in 2011. And after the approval of Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s controversial pay package worth up to $1 trillion, the auto company saw turnover amongst its engineers.
Meta, meanwhile, went on a spending spree to attract new talent, though some high-profile recruits left within just a few months. The company did bring on billionaire Scale AI cofounder Alexandr Wang as chief AI officer in June.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect who killed two people and injured nine in a mass shooting on Brown University campus in Providence, Rhode Island on Saturday. And in Sydney, Australia, at least 15 are dead and 40 injured after two gunman opened fired on a Sunday Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach, which authorities are describing as a terrorist attack
President Donald Trump said the U.S. would retaliate after two Army soldiers and an interpreter were killed in central Syria on Saturday in an attack by an ISIS gunman. They were the first U.S. casualties in Syria since Bashar al-Assad was overthrown last year.
