IN AMERICA: 'The Walrus and the Carpenter'

The above poem was written 153 years ago by the author of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” Some literary historians say it’s about sex, some say it’s about eating disorders, and still others believe it was a veiled reference to colonization.

It is one of my favorite poems I learned as a child in the Geneva public school system. Don’t know why I like it, but there you go, there’s no accounting for what clicks with someone, is there? I believe it also may be the only poem (well, that can be repeated in polite company. Lol!) that I........
