One Year of the NPP in Sri Lanka
One year after the National People’s Power came to power in Sri Lanka, the new government has made anti-corruption campaign the central pillar of its reform agenda. The government’s anti-corruption campaigns have emerged as key sources of legitimacy, constructing a moral narrative that centralises power and mobilises a whole-of-state approach. While the campaigns enjoy broad public support, their framing risks consolidating executive and party dominance at the expense of democratic inclusion, institutional checks, and more strategic, long-term reform.
