'Jewel in the crown' reopens after major £860k revamp

Barnards Meadow Football Centre in Lowestoft has undergone a major transformation over recent months.

The new 3G synthetic turf pitch, classrooms and changing facilities were showcased at an unveiling last Thursday, along with new LED floodlighting, a new spectator area, new external fencing and additional pitch markings.

The main pavilion has also been upgraded to create a community hub for physical activity, health and football - with a new café set to feature.

The facility was officially re-opened by Ipswich Town women’s centre forward Natasha Thomas - the club's all-time leading goalscorer - and Ipswich’s head of women’s football........
