GP surgery slammed by coroner following death of rugby stalwart
Alexandra and Crestview Surgeries, based in Lowestoft, issued a formal response after being issued with a Prevention of Future Deaths (PFD) report.
The surgery was criticised by area coroner Darren Stewart during an inquest into the care of Terence “Tex” Colby, a long-standing member of Lowestoft and Yarmouth Rugby Club.
The 82-year-old died on September 27, 2023 after complications following a below-knee amputation prompted by undiagnosed peripheral vascular disease.
An inquest earlier this year concluded that while missed opportunities in primary care did not directly cause his death, the standard of care he received in mid-August 2023 raised significant concerns.
