Woman's bid to 'future proof' home refused over preservation fears
Kate Clodd applied to North Norfolk District Council to extend her house on Church Plain in Wells-next-the-sea.
Currently, the main bedroom in her home is located on the first floor and accessed through the original stairs, which are described as "steep and winding and present a risk of falling".
As part of the extension, Ms Clodd wanted to have a bedroom with an accessible shower room built on the ground floor.
