Bid to turn former care home into homeless shelter stirs concerns among neighbours
Great Yarmouth Borough Council wants to change the use of Abbeyfield House, on Lawn Avenue, from sheltered housing to supported housing for vulnerable single people with support needs.
The proposal is for nine rooms for homeless people, and one room for staff member on overnight duties.
The adjoining office space would be used by borough council staff and external agencies who are providing management and support. Staff would be present 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
