Conservative Keith Kiddie, who has represented Diss and Roydon at County Hall since 2017, has decided to stand down.

As it stands, there are due to be Norfolk County Council elections in May next year, so, because Mr Kiddie's November resignation came up to six months before that scheduled vote, no by-election will take place.

There is some uncertainty about whether those elections could be delayed, however.

The government has said it is ready to listen to requests to postpone them, with some councils keen to put them........
