How time flies. It's been two decades since the release of the very enjoyable comedy The Devil Wears Prada, based on Lauren Weisberger's roman à clef about working as an assistant to the imperiously demanding editor of a major fashion magazine.

Stars Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway kept saying a sequel was unlikely, but here we finally are. Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna (who apparently didn't take much from Weisberger's literary sequel) and director David Frankel are back, along with the main actors from the earlier film and many new faces.

If you liked The Devil Wears Prada, you've probably already booked your ticket. The new film delivers much of what you'd expect: lots of expensive garments and accessories on view, lots of cameos from the fashion world, lots of snarky quips. If you'd like to know a bit more before seeing it, read on.

The story begins with a blunt acknowledgment that the media world has changed significantly over the past 20 years. Print media, like magazines, are struggling and closing and the digital world is all-consuming - with artificial intelligence just the latest wrinkle. It's a dark thread that runs throughout the movie.
