Nelson: City's water woes no act of God
It’s one thing to believe your ship is unsinkable. It’s entirely another for the captain to keep declaring it so while passengers scramble into lifeboats after hitting an iceberg.
Titanic comparisons are apt these days in Calgary, given the current state of local emergency concerning our water supply.
And, as stated before in this space, there are now two Calgarys in play: one in which most citizens inhabit and then a much stranger one that’s home to civic administration and a slim majority of our current city council.
How different? How strange! Well, ponder this example arising last Friday, as shocking news was delivered about how we could face up to five weeks of water restrictions after more problems were discovered with the main feeder pipeline that broke a week earlier.
