Aston Villa fanbase bask in Champions League glow - with "only one negative"
Aston Villa made it three wins on the trot in the Champions League as they beat Italian visitors Bologna, and fans are basking in the glow as they sit atop the competition's new-look league phase for at least a few more hours. Birmingham Live readers are full of praise for the squad in our comments section - with one notable exception.
John McGinn opened the scoring in the 55th minute, with Jhon Duran doubling the lead nine minutes later. The Italians had the best opportunities of the first half despite Villa's domination of the pitch, but a Morgan Rogers attempt in added time started to turn the tide.
Goalkeeper Emi Martinez was once again crucial in keeping out three good shots in the first half, and is yet to concede a goal in the club's return to the Champions League.
