Opinion: Tirade explains perfectly why Democrats lost

On Nov. 5, when the Democratic Party had become a smoldering mass of debris, a member of the Fourth Estate tweeted out:

“I don’t understand. I just don’t understand.”

In two sentences, the reporter described the state of bewilderment that now seizes half the country. The smaller half.

Democrats and their enablers in mass media can’t figure out how someone as uniquely terrible as Donald Trump managed to fool the larger part of the country and win the White House.

Now comes Jay Michaelson to help everyone see more clearly.

Michaelson is a TV commentator and religious scholar who went on “CNN Newsnight” with Abby Phillip last week and busted up an entire panel discussion.

More than a mere journalist, Michaelson is heir to Carrie Nation, the self-righteous scold who with her hatchet and band of zealots used to smash apart drinking establishments to rid the country of demon rum.

If Carrie Nation was a forerunner of Prohibition, Jay Michaelson is a lagging indicator of toxic wokeness.

He missed the Nov. 5 memo written in 75 million popular votes and 312 electoral votes that America is done with all of that sanctimonious bilge.

Here’s how it unfolded on CNN.
