Opinion: Take heart about all those Trump, Harris visits
Kamala Harris and Donald Trump don’t agree on much, but there is one opinion the bitter rivals share. They love Arizona.
I doubt it’s our lovely weather in July, late-summer monsoons or the occasional 110-degree October day. Instead, they know if they lose the Grand Canyon State, it’s doubtful they’ll enter the White House.
Once again, Arizona will have an oversized say in who wins the presidency. In 2020, Biden eked out a win over Trump by a mere 10,457 ballots, or 0.3% of all votes. The count took nine nail-biting days before major media organizations declared the victor.
This year, it could be even closer.
According to the RealClearPolitics polling average, Trump leads Harris in the state by 1.1%, well within the margin of error of most surveys. The candidates’ internal polls likely agree, which explains the flurry of visits over the past few months.
