Treat phones like guns and ban them from schools
During her two years in office, Gov. Katie Hobbs has vetoed more than 200 bills, shattering the record for such things, alienating the Republican-controlled Legislature, putting herself at risk for carpal tunnel syndrome and making one terrible mistake.
During the last legislative session, Hobbs vetoed House Bill 2793, which would have prohibited the use of cellphones during the school day.
She said at the time that the legislation wasn’t needed, as schools in the state already were addressing the issue.
No.
Not good enough.
I understand where Hobbs is coming from. The bill was heavily promoted by Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne, whose list of bad ideas far outnumber Hobbs’ vetoes.
But he got this right.
