The New York City Council announced Wednesday that it is investigating four prediction markets for alleged “predatory marketing practices” targeting young people. 

Council Speaker Julie Menin sent letters to Polymarket, Kalshi, Coinbase and Gemini Titan on Monday, requesting more information about their advertising in New York City. 

In a statement shared by her office on Wednesday, Menin drew on her background as a mother, saying she understood “firsthand the fears that come with raising kids in a world where predatory industries are constantly finding new ways to target them.”
