A long-time Democrat said he might vote for Vice President JD Vance in the 2028 election because he doesn’t want to live in “communist America.”
Comedian and HBO show host Bill Maher sat down for an interview with ABC News on Sunday following his reception of the 2026 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and the political commentator was blunt about his dislike for the socialist wing of the Democratic Party.
“So, I’m not living in communist America,” Maher said. “I mean, I know the talking point is, ‘It’s not communism, it’s socialism.’ OK, I’ve read the quotes from the [Democratic Socialists of America] platform from their own mouths. Don’t tell me I’m not seeing what I am seeing.”
