New York Jets cornerback Michael Carter II, bottom, tackles San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings during the first half of an NFL football game in Santa Clara, Calif., Monday, Sept. 9, 2024.

San Francisco 49ers receiver Jauan Jennings was the victim of an uncalled hip-drop tackle, an illegal takedown the NFL outlawed this past offseason, according to multiple reports.

In the third quarter of Monday’s season opener, and right after Jennings caught a pass, Jets cornerback Michael Carter II wrapped his arms around the receiver’s waist, swung his hips and dropped them onto his opponent’s legs. Jennings came up with a slight limp and had to briefly exit the game.

The move certainly appeared to be a hip-drop........
