While TikTok’s slogan is “Make every second count,” one Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officer may have taken that phrase much too literally.

Sixteen-year veteran Ivan D. Sarabia-Medina was fired in 2023 after an internal investigation concluded that he was routinely using (and posting to) TikTok while on duty. Not only did the officer film himself at the station and in his car, while in uniform, but he was also found to be posting to the social media app while in the drive-thru lane at In-N-Out.
