The thought struck me as I was licking a spoon — as strange as that sounds.

It had been a long day for my wife. She’d been struck down with a cold that hit with the force of a small pickup truck and had spent most of the last 24 hours in a miserable state.

Because good food makes everything better, I decided to cook us a nice supper – after making sure she was OK with solids foods and could actually taste anything.

I fried some nice little porkchops with Montreal steak spice and there was enough fond for a creamy garlic and mushroom pan sauce. I........
