After indicating on several occasions he didn’t want the job, Rob Lantz became permanent leader of the P.E.I. Progressive Conservative Party and the province’s premier last week — both for a second time. He resigned as party leader several months after the 2015 election, which saw him lose his Charlottetown-Brighton seat by just 22 votes to Liberal Jordan Brown.

His first time in the premier’s office was much more recent. After the surprise resignation of Dennis King early last year, Lantz was named premier and interim party leader on the understanding he would not seek the job on a permanent basis.
