DOING THE WRITE THING: If you want something done …

I’ve not been spending as much time engaged in discussions of national politics as I used to do. It’s not that I don’t think it’s important, and it’s not that I don’t care. I just don’t see any clear way that I can impact the national discourse.
But I do see how change happens at the local level, and that is where I am keeping my attention these days. Here are some examples of people putting time and energy into making our community a better place:
First, we should thank Geneva’s county supervisors for pushing for a vote to close the landfill (owned by the county but operated by Casella). This will finally make it onto the Dec. 5 county board agenda.
Residents of towns outside of Geneva have been contacting their supervisors and asking them to vote for closure. As you might imagine, the people who want to keep it open have tried to raise all sorts of objections, claiming that we must have a post-closure plan ready before voting to close.
