Waitrose drivers 'pulling straws' to deliver to Andrew at Sandringham

The former prince has made headlines several times - and not only for being arrested.

Lots of workers have been coming and going from Marsh Farm at Wolfterton, which will become his permanent home once renovations are completed.

Sky engineers are among the contractors to have been called to the site.

In the meantime, though, the King's brother is staying at another property called Wood Farm - and one of the most notable visitors has been Waitrose.

Many were surprised at the choice - especially considering there are several other supermarket brands based much closer.

It is understood that drivers at Waitrose are usually assigned routes based on their shift pattern, and they tend to be sent along the same routes regularly.

But a source has now claimed that the firm's delivery drivers have been reluctant to take on the Sandringham job.

They said the team has been "pulling straws" to decide who has to go.

Waitrose declined to comment.

Andrew is not the only Royal Family member to love Waitrose.

The supermarket received a Royal Warrant in May 2024 and the Princess of Wales visited a branch in Norfolk in 2018 when she was pregnant with her third child, Prince Louis.

Delivery drivers are not the only people to be hesitant to work for Andrew since his relocation.

Just a week after Andrew's move, The Sun reported that staff members at the estate had gone on "strike".

A source said to the newspaper: “They’ve been told they don’t have to serve Andrew or work for him if they feel uncomfortable.

“There is already quite a list saying no thanks. There is understandably a lot of disquiet as he is now a total pariah."
