The couple, who have been together for four years, were on the lookout for an opportunity to run their own business when they saw that Becketts was up for sale.

Ms Wright, 20, whose father runs Sheringham hardware store Blyth and Wright, says her retail background has equipped her to run the store while 24-year-old Mr Olley has experience in the army after serving in the Royal Logistics Corp during the Covid pandemic.

Ms Wright said: "I'm also really interested in the country and farming lifestyle and we were both in a position where we could take this on."

The Dereham Road store offers military clothing, including jackets and boots, as well as country lifestyle garments and equipment.

Ms Wright, who described the store as an "Aladdin's cave" of treasure, says she has stumbled on some interesting items since taking over.

She said: "The other day I found these mine clearing boots - they're like the ones being used in the Ukraine war. It's those little bits that I've really enjoyed and didn't expect when we bought it."

In addition to suppling a number of the county's police personnel and cadets with boots, Becketts' stock has also been shipped across the globe including Fiji, Mexico and South Africa.

The couple are keen to continue the legacy of the Becketts name while also bringing their own freshness to the brand.

Ms Wright is focused on expanding its presence across social media to help make the store more accessible.

Ms Wright said: "We're keeping it the same but with a fresh approach, something that's more 21st century."
