Bosses of the Bull Inn recently installed the 0.6ft by 13 ft screen in its Hellesdon beer garden to be "used for customer information and occasional entertainment such as live sport".

The screen rests on a truss structure and has an overall height of approximately 12 ft.

After the plans were submitted in November last year they were met with objection from Hellesdon Parish Council, who said the noise and light generated from the screen would have "a detrimental effect on neighbouring properties".

But planners for Broadland District Council imposed a condition as part of their approval that the outdoor screen cannot "emit any amplified sound, audio, music, speech, or other noise at any time."

A neighbour to the pub, who also objected, said: "This new extra large screen is clearly to draw sizeable crowds for events with the resultant additional noise."

Planners responded saying the council cannot control the number of people who visit the pub.
