Ministers have told Great Yarmouth Borough Council it needs to build as many as 10,000 new homes by 2045 - increasing its target by almost 50pc.  

Its current target means it needs to build 353 homes per year, but that is expected to rise to 525 every year.

Now the council fears that villages in the surrounding area may no longer exist, as they will merge with the seaside town.
