I got married at Easter and we had a really lovely honeymoon in Mexico, which should have been paid for by my mother-in-law. So far, she hasn’t given us the cash she promised, which has left us out of pocket, and I don’t know what to do.

When we were organising the wedding, my husband’s mum made a big deal of offering to pay for the honeymoon, as my parents were funding most of the wedding, with my husband and I contributing what we could.

I was thrilled, as we couldn’t afford a honeymoon ­somewhere really special. So I told her I’d book it on my credit card and she could pay me back. She agreed that was a good idea but it’s now July and she’s showing no signs of offering the money.
