This is not a simple case of cultural programming or distance learning. It is a curriculum that has been criticized globally for promoting hatred, violence, and a worldview that contradicts the values Canada holds dear.
Canada has long prided itself on being a place of refuge for those fleeing violence and persecution. Our commitment to helping newcomers rebuild their lives is a cornerstone of our national identity.
Integrating those new to our country and society requires more than just offering a place to live. It requires providing an education that reflects our values of tolerance, peace, and respect for all people. The curriculum proposed by the Palestinian Authority does not meet this standard.
Numerous reports, including those from the European Union and the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education, have documented the troubling content of the PA’s educational materials. Textbooks glorify terrorism, promote antisemitism, and reject the existence of Israel.
