Pocahontas Wants to Spend Jeff Bezos’s Money
There are some people, bless their silly little hearts, who almost every time they open their mouths say something stupid. Elizabeth (“Pocahontas”) Warren is one of those people. Recently, this paragon of Democratic Party lying and tyranny said that “$7 billion from Jeff Bezos could fund free insulin for everyone plus free lunches for Texas school kids” (quoted from an X post by Kevin “Hercules” Sorbo). And I’m sure every unthinking leftist in the country said “yeah, yeah, yeah, tax the rich! Make them pay their fair share!” without, of course, ever telling us what their “fair share” is. Well, you can’t tell what you don’t know. It just sounds good to the ignorant and miseducated, and makes them feel good.
There is so much wrong with what Pocahontas said that it would take a book to thoroughly analyze it. But let me make a few points.
My first immediate thought was how long would $7 billion from Jeff Bezos' fund “free” insulin and “free” lunches? For a day? A year? Eternity? Where did Warren get the $7 billion figure? Yes, certainly, $7 billion of Jeff Bezos’ money could buy a lot of insulin and free school lunches. But how many good jobs would be lost if Mr. Bezos were not able to invest that substantial amount of money and put people to work? When you rob Peter to pay Paul, there is still a cost—to Peter and those he might have spent that money with.
And contrary to the incredible blindness of Elizabeth Warren, the insulin and school lunches wouldn’t be “free” because they would cost Jeff Bezos $7 billion. And the countless jobs that would........
