Private partners and new technology could soon reshape airport security operations across the country.

Like companies across the country, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is embracing AI. The agency plans to roll out a new initiative called TSA Gold that fast-tracks the screening process at airports—without having to rely on federal funding. 

Rumors started circulating about the potential project in late 2025. In February 2026, a TSA-branded briefing flier obtained by the Federal News Network defined the program, calling TSA Gold  as a “new public-private partnership aimed at modernizing aviation security at select airports........
