The Narendra Modi government, earlier this week, took a significant but perilous step by introducing a new Bill in the Lok Sabha that seeks to “update” India's strict liability law for suppliers connected to nuclear incidents. This change not only alleviates the burdens on suppliers but also paves the way for private sector companies to enter a sector that has long been dominated by specialised public enterprises.
