GUEST APPEARANCE: Projects that could move City forward — and provide some tax relief
Whoever may have read my “Guest Appearance” in the Finger Lakes Times last month knows I am against the City paying one more dollar of taxpayer money toward what I view as a defective marina project.
So what are the alternatives to a marina that will jazz up the City’s future and relieve — or at least moderate — our taxpayers’ burden while growing the City? There are several that I can think of that require creativity and vision and tenacity to achieve but that I think we can do. We have a City staff that can execute these projects if the City Council is unified and clear about its directives.
Here are several alternatives.
• The Geneva Neighborhood Infill project. This is an old idea that was hatched at the end of Matt Horn’s tenure as city manager. At the time, I asked him to pull together a list of all the City-owned properties in the City and make a list of their locations. If my memory is correct, from this list there were enough parcels spread across the City to potentially build up to 20 single-family........
