DENIM SPIRIT: This is not about politics, so keep reading
I was on the National Organizing Call for the Harris campaign last week after her Atlanta rally. While I have already made up my mind who I will vote for, I wanted to see what the political zoom revolution inspired by her campaign is all about. After about 45 minutes I had had enough of the cross between an infomercial and the QVC channel, neither of which is my kind of thing. I was torn, though, between feeling like “I’m too old for this” and wanting to stay connected and competent with the cascading evolution in social technology.
There has been a lot of analysis already about who goes to MAGA rallies and why. They are oases of affinity in what is otherwise a dry desert of in-person community. I imagine that this Harris zoom phenomenon must be the same thing: separate zoom events of 44,000 Black women, 45,000 Black men, 7,500........
