DENIM SPIRIT: It was the trees
It was 95 degrees in Columbus, Ohio, when we were visiting last week. I hear it was pretty hot in Geneva too. Unfortunately, climate change wraps us all in its warmth.
It was 93 at 6 p.m. when my wife and I decided to take a bike ride through the neighborhood where my daughter lives, and down through a park on a bike path that meanders all across that sprawl of a city. But oddly, it didn’t feel that hot. In fact, I was hardly sweating until we had to ascend the hill that rises up to where our daughter lives.
It was the trees. For over seven miles we rode in the shade, sheltered by huge sycamores, locusts, maples, and oaks.
