HEADING FOR THE HILLS

Parting can ache to the core. I walk the land we have nurtured, and which has nurtured us, and I say my long goodbyes. Drought, storms, wildfires too close to call, we have experienced them all.

Now age and health have caught up with us and we must be realistic. We cannot sustain the necessary labour seven days a week and must move a few kilometres into town. Maggie’s Alzheimer’s makes that need glaringly obvious, but so too does my own health. I am fine now and need to keep it that way so I can devote my time to my darling… and also to my writing.
