Rumours become reality with Stuart Skinner trade
The Edmonton Oilers finally pulled the trigger and traded goaltender Stuart Skinner to the Pittsburgh Penguins for veteran netminder Tristan Jarry Dec. 12.
Skinner was under the microscope in Edmonton, and was regularly scrutinized for his play on social media. The Edmontonian had been mentioned in trade rumours for several months.
Prognosticators repeatedly said general manager Stan Bowman had to address his subpar goaltending via trade. The critics claimed Skinner was the reason the Oilers were unable to defeat the Florida Panthers in consecutive Stanley Cup finals appearances.
It was evident Bowman had concerns with his goaltending after making the transaction with the Penguins and GM Kyle Dubas. Bowman indicated it was time for “something different” for his club’s goalie situation.
