The Issue: The 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

This day commemorates the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred in 2001, a day that transformed the lives of countless people (“Heroes Over Zeroes,” Sept. 10).

We recall the bravery of those who rushed toward peril while others fled. We honor the 343 firefighters, 71 law-enforcement officers, the military and civilian personnel at the Pentagon, the passengers and crew on American Airlines flights 11 and 77, United Airlines flights 175 and 93, as well as the thousands of innocent men, women and children who lost their lives that day.

We may try to put things in order and move forward. However, the memory of the United States being attacked by people intent on destroying our way of life will always linger.
